Athlete, Get the Power Transfer

Morris Michalski

John 20:21 (NASB)

So Jesus said to them again, “Peace be to you; just as the Father has sent Me, I also send you.”

The well-coached often become coaches. They launch out in similar careers because they were masterfully taught, powerfully inspired, and beautifully infected themselves. The acorn doesn’t fall far from the tree. I’ve been blessed to have been on both beautiful ends of this.

Has it ever occurred to you that God’s plan is similar, to coach well, to empower, to send us onward, outward, to coach others, to coach life like Jesus, to impact others like Him? Multiplication is the goal and game plan. If we claim to be Christians, Christ-followers, understand the power transfer He has in mind for us. It’s thrilling.

Need any more boosting? Chew on these three nourishing bones …

  1. SENT: God’s in the sending business. He sent His magnificent Son. He’s sent strong prophets, apostles, messengers all along the way. And He wants to see this sending pattern continue.

He’s always looking for people to multiply the mission. That means He has you and me in mind. So don’t just go somewhere and do something. Choose to be sent. Be sure to be sent. By God. It’s way better.

  1. SWAG: When Jesus sends, He sends with confidence and authority. He powerfully sends as He was powerfully sent. The power given Him by His Father He transfers to us as we go for Him.

He wants us moving forward with a holy, humble swag that resembles Him. So let’s roll with His swagger.

  1. PEACE: Sent ones get God’s peace, not just His power. He bakes it into all His missions. It settles us down at the biggest moments. It overrides doubts and dispels fears that predictably come.

The “shalom of God” accompanies those whom He sends. That peace passes all understanding (Philippians 4:7).

Reflect: Sensing that God might be recruiting you to a fresh mission, a different initiative, a new soul, path, or people group? Where might He be sending you? What might He be calling you to do, be it big or small, long or short?

Feeling any godly power surges lately? Operating with His confidence and authority? Running on your own swag too much (Zechariah 4:6)? Are you experiencing the peace of Christ as you go on mission? Is your sense of mission stronger than your sense of fear?

A prayer to consider: O LORD, thank You for Your commitment to keep on sending people on mission. May that include me.

So coach me hard. Get me off the couch. I don’t wanna live there. I want Jesus swag, Jesus impact, Jesus power, Jesus peace and a strong sense of meaningful mission. Transfer it all to me by Your Spirit so that I may go onward and live outward for You. What a sacred honor and royal privilege! Amen.
