The Coach Wooden “Keys to Life” Award is presented annually to a player or coach who best exemplifies character, leadership, and integrity in the home, on the court, and throughout the community.
The 2026 award recipient is Steve Alford.
Notable Accomplishments:
- As a college senior Alford led Indiana to the 1987 NCAA Championship
- He ended his collegiate career as Indiana’s all-time leading scorer, with 2,438 points
- 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, Alford earned gold with the United States
- In 2001 was one 15 players named to Indiana’s All-Century team
- 1983 Indiana Mr. Basketball
- Current Men’s Basketball Head Coach of the Nevada Wolfpack
- Alford’s current coaching win total places him 10th among all active D1 coaches.
This highly anticipated annual celebration is hosted by Athletes in Action at the NCAA men’s basketball Final Four and consistently presents first-class production punctuated with good humor, memorable basketball banter and heartwarming stories.
