What does Forgiveness do?

How do you respond when you feel wronged?  Imagine you were a pro soccer players on the Ghana team in 2010 and were eliminated from the world cup because of an intentional hand ball from Uruguay.  Despite the fact that Suarez was given a red card and a free kick was given, you might have felt wronged.
 
Is it true that Suarez was “the hand of God” in that moment?  Does God endorse our fouls?  

What about the fouls against us from others?  How should we respond?
 
We all have made mistakes or fouls in life and so what do we do with them?
