A recent study on college student athletes found that 95% of male and 85% of female athletes have significantly higher stress levels than non-athlete students. Added burdens including hours of practice every week, pressure to perform and being in the spotlight make it easy for athletes  to succumb to the pitfalls of college life.

The good news is that athletes don’t have to face these challenges alone. 

Athletes in Action recently developed Campus Launch Days – a celebration that brings all of AIA’s services and resources to a new campus. These special days are a time of building relationships, identifying potential leaders and bringing Jesus into the campus athletic community. 

From this first event athletes are given guidance and support that helps them meet the challenges of university life in all aspects: mentally, physically and spiritually.

As a result of these efforts at the beginning of last school year, ministries were launched on 18 new campuses across the country — and from these new campuses over 15,000 athletes heard the gospel. In total, 728 college athletes made decisions for Jesus!

Each Campus Launch Day will cost around $250 to plan and host. This includes travel, display materials and food. The more gifts received means more campuses launched.

The Time is Now!

With the school year already underway, now is the time for action. Based on the encouraging results from last year, the plan is to hold Campus Launch Days on campuses in 20 new strategic cities in the U.S. this year.
