Athlete, Here are Two Good Things To Do
Mo Michalski
Psalm 92:1,2 (NIV)
It is good to praise the Lord and make music to Your name, O Most High, proclaiming Your love in the morning and Your faithfulness at night.
Would you agree that these are some good things to do:
* Change the oil in your car regularly.
* Write legibly.
* Get adequate rest.
* Give to the poor.
* Don’t waste time, talents, or treasures (money).
* Think before you speak.
* Respect your elders.
* Seek forgiveness and forgive more than you care to.
* Play with honor. Win with honor.
* Tell people you love them while you can.
* Keep a good song in your heart.
What would you add or subtract from this list?
Psalm 92 proposes two other good things to do:
PRAISE: Extol the LORD. Tell God to His face that He is great, that He is good. Put it to music as needed. Sing it loud and strong … often.
PROCLAIM: Make the LORD famous among men. Let the world know of His extravagant, unfailing love by day and His faithfulness by night. There isn’t a time of day where proclaiming this pair shouldn’t take place in some form or fashion.
The LORD Most High is worthy. And our praise and proclaiming of others, especially of Him, is a good thing to do.
Reflect: What fresh way could you express praise to God (via art, music, dance, writing, meditation, exercise, etc.)? What song could you introduce into your musical diet today to praise God? Who needs to hear of God’s love and faithfulness from you?
A prayer to consider: LORD, You are worthy of my praise and proclamation. This is such a good thing to do. Spirit of God, unlock and unleash me to do so. I want Christ’s love and God’s faithfulness magnified through me. Amen.
